Pain Management in the Opioid Crisis

Join us as we sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to the Western Caribbean. Our ports of call include: Key West, FL; Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico.

You'll attend seminars on days 'at sea' or at times when your enjoyment of the ports of call will not be affected.

Course Description:  This Pain Management seminar's agenda is designed to discuss topics included in the Pain Management Board Certification blueprint, and is very relevant for all nurses caring for patients in all areas who may be experiencing acute or chronic pain. In addition to addressing both acute & chronic pain in patients of all ages, the course will cover specialty populations such as cognitively impaired & addictions. It includes various aspects of pain: physiology, assessment, interventions that include both complimentary & alternatives, crisis management & the ethics of pain, as well as discussing the Opioid Crisis and its resultant effect on patient care.

Kendra Menzies Kent MS, RN-BC, CCRN, CNRN, SCRN, TCRN

Kendra has an extensive and comprehensive knowledge base and is known for her ability to simplify the complex and maintain audience attention. Kendra received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas in Arlington in 1985, and her Master’s Degree in Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist from Texas Women’s University in 1993. Her work includes critical care education for surgical/trauma, neurosurgical and thoracic surgery ICUs. She held positions in management and was a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the SICU at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. Kendra was a staff nurse in the Neurosurgical ICU at Harris Methodist Hospital, Ft. Worth, Texas, and currently lives in Florida where she is the Nursing Director at Marcus Neuroscience Institute, Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Boca Raton, Florida.

Kendra has presented seminars throughout the country for over 15 years, and has presented numerous times for The Cruise Academy since 2007. She is a Fundamental Critical Care Support Instructor (FCCS) for the Society of Critical Care Medicine and co-owner of Quest for Nursing Knowledge.

 *Royal Caribbean Int'l. reserves the right to impose a fuel supplement on all guests if the price of West Texas Intermediate fuel exceeds $65.00 per barrel. The fuel supplement for 1st and 2nd guests would be no more than $10 per guest per day, to a maximum of $140 per cruise; and for additional guests would be no more than $5 per person per day, to a maximum of $70 per cruise.
